I knew, from a very young age, that like my Mother, my Grandmother, and all the other women of my family, my purpose was to be of service.
Spirit always put me on the path to meet those that needed care, whether it be physical or emotional. And with every soul I’ve been blessed to encounter, they’ve always taught me precious lessons that I hold close to my heart and have built into myself.
All in all, I’ve learned a lot about the significance of life. Its not about how much wealth we’ve accumulated or how many toys we have. Death doesn’t care about our status or our bank accounts. Death is what it is, plain and simple. So when it comes time to take our last step from this world, what kind of lasting mark will we leave? How deep will our footprint be in the legacy of who came before us, and who will come after?
Here’s a few things I’ve learned so far. Things that I think are important to share with others:
~In this life there are more questions than there are answers.
I think maybe that’s the way its meant to be so we stay on our toes.
~We can have whatever we want, but always be sure to want what we have. Being owned by our possessions is self destructive and makes a lot of work for others later on. After all, we can’t take it with us.
~If you keep looking behind you, you may as well have glue on your feet. We’ve all been hurt by someone we love. We all have been betrayed by someone we thought we could trust. It happens. Try not to let past transgressions forbid you from having new experiences and relationships. You’ll only be cheating yourself out of happiness.
~Don’t save your dress clothes and good dishes just for special occasions. Every day is a special occasion!
~Always be willing to reach out to another, even for just a second. We are all a part of the divine and all should be looked upon as the face of God.
~When someone leaves this life, we should allow ourselves time to grieve, but don’t forget that there was an entire life time to celebrate.
~Bill and Ted summed up the 10 Commandments the best; “Above all else, be excellent to each other.”
~It doesn’t matter what faith you are, as long as you have it. If you have faith, you have everything.
~Sing, Dance and Celebrate! Life isn’t supposed to be just survived, its to be LIVED!
~Always remember: GRATITUDE.
~When you can get up in the morning, excited to be alive and thankful you get to do what you love to do, THAT is what it means to reach your potential! Find what makes your soul sing and give yourself to it!
Now. Go turn up the music, sing at the top of your lungs and dance like nobody is watching!
Be blessed and be well, mita kola! And know you are all truly loved!
